What is attunement? Some of you may be familiar with the attunement quests required for raid instances such as Molten Core and Blackwing Lair, or even possibly Onyxia's Lair. At times, a certain progression through a quest line must be completed before you allowed access to a raid instance/dungeon. Currently, here on the Den, there are only three locations that require you to be attuned, or "keyed" to enter, and they are Karazhan, Tempest Keep: the Eye, and the Black Temple.

This wiki will serve as a moderately detailed walkthrough for all three attunement quests, and you should use it as a reference guild while completing these quests, in order to keep questions reference to this matter off of the public in-game channels, or to a minimum.

CONTINENT: EASTERN KINGDOMS

ZONE: DEADWIND PASS

FLIGHT PATHS REQUIRED: GADGETZAN (TANARIS)

STEP 1: Travel to Deadwind Pass, and speak with Archmage Alturus outside of Karazhan.

STEP 2: You will receive the quest "Contact from Dalaran". Travel to Hillsbrad Foothills.

STEP 3: Locate and speak to Archmage Cedric outside of Dalaran, and complete the quest.

STEP 4: You will now receive the quest "Khadgar". Now, type ".warp stv" and go to Booty Bay.

STEP 5: Now travel to the docks and buy all three key fragments from "Feathersnake Merchant".

STEP 6: Travel to Shattrath City in Terrokar Forest and locate and speak to Khadgar.

STEP 7: Accept the quest "Entry into Karazhan" in which he will take the first key fragment.

STEP 8: Complete the quest, and accept the next one, "The Second and Third Fragments".

STEP 9: Again, complete the quest with the fragments you purchased. Speak with Khadgar again.

STEP 10: Receive the quest "The Master's Touch", and then speak with the teleport-master.

STEP 11: Use the flight-master to warp to Ratchet, and take the flight path to Gadgetzan.

STEP 12: Travel to the Caverns of Time in Tanaris, and enter the Black Morass (instance).

STEP 13: Locate Medivh in the northern part of the instance, and speak with him.

• You can run straight to Medivh, and die to cancel any trash mobs you picked up. You will auto-resurrect inside of the instance in the spot where you died once you release.

STEP 14: After speaking with Medivh, accept the quest "Return to Khadgar".

STEP 15: Travel back to Shattrath City and speak with Khadgar again and complete the quest.

You now have the Master's Key, required to enter Karazhan. Congratulations, you win!

[edit] TEMPEST KEEP: THE EYE

CONTINENT: OUTLANDS

ZONE: NETHERSTORM

FLIGHT PATHS REQUIRED:

STEP 1: Travel to any major city and use the portal to travel to Shattrath City.

STEP 2: Run, ride, or fly east from Shattrath to Nagrand.

STEP 3: Once in Nagrand, travel around until you find a patch of Talbuk.

• There are many varities of Talbuk in Nagrand, any will do, and they are found all over Nagrand. Just east of Halaa, which is in the center of Nagrand, is a large patch of Talbuk.

STEP 4: Kill talbuk until you have ten (10) talbuk venison. Now travel to southeast Nagrand.

STEP 5: Make your way to the Killsorrow Fortress, and kill the humanoid NPC's.

STEP 6: Once you've farmed a stack of twenty (20) netherweave cloth, warp to Booty Bay.

STEP 7: Travel to the end of the docks and speak with "Den Concierge".

STEP 8: Accept the quest "The Tempest Key" and then complete it with the materials you farmed.

You now have the Tempest Key, required to enter Tempest Keep: the Eye. Congratulations, again!

CONTINENT: OUTLANDS

ZONE: SHADOWMOON VALLEY

FLIGHT PATHS REQUIRED: THE SEPULCHER (SILVERPINE FOREST)

• Flying mount is required for this quest line.

STEP 1: Type ".warp stv" and make your way to the cove behind the inn, and find "Ikuntai".

STEP 2: Talk to Ikuntai and accept the quest "Hello There Friend!".

STEP 3: Type ".warp out" and find yourself at the Dark Portal. Enter it.

STEP 4: Fly north/northwest from your position, over Kil'jaeden's throne, northward.

• You'll be looking for a large rock floating in space. From a distance, the first thing you will see is a wrecked pirate ship on this rock. Next to it will be a smaller rock, with a dwarf on it.

STEP 5: Speak with Normad Grombeard, and accept the quest "A Show of Good Faith".

• Now comes the fun part.

STEP 6: Travel to Silverpine Forest, and make your way to Shadowfang Keep.

STEP 7: Enter Shadowfang Keep and kill Randulfr.

• You will need to be in a party for this. Randulfr is just inside the entrance in the room with the jail cells where the NPC is located that would normally open the door to the courtyard for you. You will need a healer, as no one yet has been able to 100% dodge Randulfr's attacks.

• Randulfr will only drop ONE stomach per kill, and you MUST NOT be in a raid group. Make sure your party has rolled previously or has already decided who will take the stomach to avoid it being ninja'd. The item is not rolled on by the game, and is bind on pickup. Once you get the stomach, open up your backpack and right click on it to receive three (3) Illidari Mushrooms.

STEP 8: Take the mushrooms back to Normad Grombeard north of Hellfire Peninsula.

STEP 9: He will give you the quest "Ikuntai". Now warp to Booty Bay.

STEP 10: Make your way back to Ikuntai and complete the quest.

STEP 11: Speak with Ikuntai and receive the quest "In Search of Reagents I".

STEP 10: You will now need to travel to Nagrand, and fly to the far western edge of the map.

STEP 11: Find Twilight Ridge. There you will find Deathshadow Warlocks.

STEP 12: Kill the Deathshadow Warlocks until one of them drops "Warlocks Blood".

STEP 13: Return to Ikuntai and receive the quest "In Search of Reagents II".

STEP 14: You will now need to travel to Netherstorm, to the area around Manaforge Ultris.

STEP 15: Locate a "Seeping Sludge" near one of the green sludge pools.

STEP 16: Kill seeping sludges until one of them drops "Sludge Blood".

STEP 17: Return to Ikuntai and receive the quest "In Search of Reagents III".

STEP 18: You will now need to travel to Blade's Edge Mountains, to the northwest corner.

STEP 19: Locate Grishnath, and kill Grishna Falconwings until one drops "Falconwing Blood".

STEP 20: Return to Ikuntai and receive the quest "In Search of Reagents IV".

STEP 21: You will now need to travel to Shadowmoon Valley, to the southeaster edge.

STEP 22: Locate the Netherwing Ledge, a large island separated from the mainland.

STEP 23: Kill Dragonmaw Overseers until one drops "Dragons Blood".

STEP 24: Return to Ikuntai and speak with him yet again.

STEP 25: Now accept the quest "YOU ARE NOT PREPARED!". Travel to Netherstorm.

• Almost done!

STEP 26: Make your way to Tempest Keep: the Eye, and then proceed to Kael'thas room.

STEP 27: Kill Kael'thas and take the "Medallion of Mystery" back to Ikuntai.

• Again, you will need a party for this, unless of course you know how to Glitch Kael'thas into not fighting back. You will need a healer, and at least one other person for tanking/damage. He drops multiple medallions, but currently they are in a stack so only one person can loot them. KingPin is aware of it and this will be fixed as soon as he can get to it.

STEP 28: Return the medallion to Ikuntai.

You now have Medallion of Karabor, which is required to enter the Black Temple. You win, again!
