I was wondering if you guys could make it possible to by a few negative levels in order to gain faction more rapidly when grinding instances.
Let me explain why. Lets say I'm 255 and that I need to go from halfway into Revered 11,000/21,000) all the way to Exalted with Honor Hold for some faction-based recipes and that available quests are all completed (actual case). That means killing *thousands* of mobs to get to Exalted!
I'd have to spend mind-numbing days on end to grind faction in instances at +8 faction per kill (which I recently did do).
Could you please make it possible to buy a few 'delevels' to gain faction much more quickly? Something like 5 Sols take you down to 245 (faction goes up to +48 per kill when you get xp)?
Though I don't have many Sols, I'd gladly spend some to avoid more mind-numbing timesinks (like the ones I still see in my future).
At the price they actually go for in the AH atm, I'd gladly fork over 100k to buy 10 sols if it spared me 3 playing days of stupid grinding.
And that's for one faction on one character... and I have 5 level 255 tradeskillers : (
Just an idea, that's all.

Cmoa

Its an interesting idea, but at the moment, our current policy is to 'not take away' from things but to add on. as far as a 'de-lvling' ability, im not sure if it would fall under this catagory or not. In response, I will bring this idea up to the other staff members and ask KP. Thank you for your time and your post.
I totally understand and agree with the 'no take-away' policy, but there already are such mechanics in the game: you can wipe and reset your talent points as often as you want, you can unlearn a trade and replace it with another as often as you want, etc.
So it's not exactly taking away, it's giving you a chance to save tons of time by greatly speeding up faction grinding. It's not very different from buying levels to save time you'd spend grinding xp, imho.
Also, I have absolutely no idea what powers GMs have on The Den (I was a GM on a few low-class private servers and we could do some pretty amazing things).
So I was wondering if you couldn't just make it so that GMs can strip a few levels on demand instead of going through all the trouble of implementing a new NPC (like those from whom you can *purchase* levels).
*OR*
Let's say that for whatever reason de-levelling doesn't cut it with the powers that be.
How about the possibility to 'Freeze' your xp gain (an On/Off switch in some sort). I'd freeze my upcoming tradeskiller at about 235, farm all the factions I'll ever need then flip the switch back on and fly to 255? Easy and nothing taken away! : )
Would that be easier for you guys? It would somewhat resemble the 'twinks' from retail that stay at level 19, 29, 39 or whatever to pwn BGs...
How about the possibility of buying faction? Exactly like you can buy levels?
Have some npcs offering a wide variety of faction gains (I dunno, maybe in 1k, 2k, 3k or 5k increments?) against Sols?
Thunder Bluff npc could sell all Outland factions need by Horde, Darnassus guy could do the same for Allies - no confusion between the level-selling guys and the faction guys?
Maybe there could be a 5-10k faction point cap on all possible purchases (like there is a cap on hpw many levels you can buy)? Just to take away the obligation of soloing Shadow Labs 104 times for the last 5k faction needed at level 255?
With no available Heroic Mode in any instances, some faction quest lines not working and given the very low amount of faction given per kill, I'm just looking for a way to raid BT and such instead of wasting days of play time grinding meaningless instances...
hmmm i like your second idea alot. it wouldnt take anything away, plus it would make solarians even more useful... thank you for your time and your posts.

PS Il bring this to the other staff's attention ASAP
I can see buying rep for factions being doable. I'd rather not get into de-leveling chars tho. The most efficent method would be to have a quest NPC at GM Isle, with all factions having a single quest for sols. This is very similar to the existing cloth rep turn in already present in game at major cities.

Da Boss!
we have something in the works that will give you rep for questing.
dunno for you guys, but sols arent such a bad idea to .tradein for rep
but since sols are(or should be) used to .tradein for rep...we should get like 400 or 500 (max) per dunno..say 5 or 10 sols
we went with the .tradein of items because we wanted you to work for Rep, make you works for it abit more than just insta gratification. I mean it makes it unfare that ppl who donate can just trade there coins for Sols and have all the rep that someone who cant donate has to grind and work. So this way everyone is even and has to farm and work for it.
