This is a question mainly aimed towards KP after a discussion which we had about a year ago regarding the Google guys and how they "Screw over" fellow Americans. Can you, KP or anyone else, reiterate why you don't like the Google guys.

I'm asking because we got in a discussion about them yesterday in the office and it made me think back to why Americans have a chip on their shoulders over them. An intellect here thought it was interesting too why NYers don't like them and we considered maybe that it was because they are West Coasters and y'all are East Coasters. Just a thought.

Much has changed in the perception of google amongst US techies, Goole has been hailed a savior of this tired old internet and the devil that brigeth down the internet and all things in between. I personally have grown appreciateive of some of the things they are doing over the years I have been in close proximity with products that google has put out. their mantra of do no evil has been upheld by them many many times so far. which search engine refused to bow down to non sense subpeona's from the federal govt to go through user records? which company has put out many usefull product and has kept to the principals they professed at start? google would be the one for now. Now they arent perfect, the main problems I had were their logging of all data passing through their networks and the potential uses for it. but over the year I have dug into it and come out with some obvious flaws in my theory of data logging being evil. I have been in situations where data logging has saved me legal troubles. and then the proof that everyone keeps tabs on you not just google, google is probably more forthcoming than many others. the whole concept of google.cn and people in an uproar over it is basically crap, they have done the bare minimum to assure the govt doesnt ban them yet still aloowed any possible way to get around the govt filters. there is much more I can write here but I have grown to appreciate their ways of doing business for now. they might turn into microsoft in another 10 years like some suggest but we shall see.
