I have a Tauren Hunter and i have a pet... My pet does 1k dmg so i think its pretty useful since I don't have my swords which happen 2 drop from naxx. So yea, u can get a pet and it is useful.

hunters arent the only ones who can get pets you can use any normal pet to fight with you e.g cats, owls, etc. i tryed but some dont work the only pet that worked for me was the prarie chicken.
