Now who decided that he has to leave his guild because he is a GM? Just let everything be as it is now, i don't see any problems in GMs being in guilds as long as they don't abuse their powers, wich for so far in my eyes, they didn't. So these kind of flaming at GM threads are far from needed. Just my two cents.

No one said I had to do anything. If it becomes an issue, if someone can show me concrete proof of bias or special favors from a staff member, then it's something I will consider. People are complaining that some recent staff additions were involved in the guild break ins, and supposedly because they were nihilum members they did not get punished. They didn't get punished because there wasn't any set rule against it. I don't think what they did was right, but no rule was broken. Other concerns I have had are of the "I heard from person A that person B said..." which isn't proof of wrongdoing either. That is why theres been nothing done, cause it's all talk at this point. I think it's a valid concern, but at this point, thats all it is. A concern.

this is an intersting debate i can see the point on both sides. however i cant say if any abuse has occurred i know i am in a guild with 2 staff members and i havent been party to any special treatment nor anybody i know of either and i was friends with both staff members before they were staff or before i knew they were staff i think that staff members should not be in control of a guild or recruit for a guild just becase it would appear as favoritism.
i do think we can come up with a better system for recruiting staff the i know him method is kinda shady i think maybe as players we should get a vote on staff after you the staff nomanate the canidates a simple poll yes or no with KP being able to veto the poll as he sees fit.
this might be a good soultion to subside the appearance of favoritism in who becomes a gm i also beleve that all the current gm's also be put to a poll and lets see if they hae the confidance of the server.

This isn't high school. I think staff should decide who becomes staff, if you are gonna give players the chance to vote for their favorite player then you are going to end up with the same problem again.

mmm, just a note, if we did do what he said, and for example I had to cut all traces once i first became staff, for a year I would have to be seclusive, and i must say, most of the fascinating people i know are parts of the staff, and if i had to be an alter-ego and leave the friends i knew each time they found out i was staff, i would have left this server a long time ago...

I can't believe that some people actually have nothing better to do than complain about petty little crap like this, seriously, this is The Den, and for the time I've been in this community I have found it to be pretty close knit and very damn friendly, but still quite happy to accept new players regardless of age or where they come from.

And for someone to say that the staff give favouritism to certain players or guilds, what a crock.

As for players choosing staff, sorry ehawk52 but it'd just turn into a popularity contest, I'm sure the staff get picked wuite well, whether the choices are popular or not I velieve all staff hold there own on The Den, otherwise I doubt they'd still be staff..

I don't mean to go on and on but I get a bit defensive when ppl knock the Den or our staff..

im sorry that some of you feel this way about democorcy i personally did not start this thread but i would like to believe that most of our staff would be staying quite frankly i like most of the staff even jason i think its funny how everybody picks on him and the idea of a poll would just help make it seem alittle more like we the players have somthing to say about what goes on in the Den and if you payed close enough attention the staff and KP get to choose the players for that postion. this post asked for our opnions and this is mine if you dont like it im sorry i thouhgt maybe if you took the favoritism out of the program ppl would have alot less to complain about.

I see your point, but consider it like this: having staff picked by popular vote has 2 problems. The first is this: "Vote for me and I'll give you DGA coins." The second is, that guy, who can't find westfall, is too lazy to do stance quests, and uses all caps in world? Yes, his vote counts too.

I remember a few weeks back i really felt like axxl (leonitus).now as i read these long replies i understand that i was wrong.i think,there should be a group of old players (like comeback not-anymore staff members or just ppl who dont wanna become gm's but have a strong opinion about everything) and they would vote on the soon-to-be staff.something like in rome when they pick a new pope.or an election of prezident.well,thats all i gotta say.
