Wel this is something i used to do on retail servers aswel, always good for a couple of laughs. The idea is to make a lvl 1 character and start of in Human starting zone, once the signal is given its a race to get to tanaris first, yes i know you'll get killed if you dont watch it, but thats the point of it. We used to call it a deathrace.

Btw would it be possible to speccify event times in GMT aswel?

Ive done a lvl 1 gnome race from Xroads to Og on retail, was fun.
Rules were pvp had to be enabled tho so might not work for this server.

This idea sounds fun, I would be willing to make a 1st lvl toon to it
