01. Download The Client: (If you have the Kamael or Hellbound Client then you may skip to step 2.) If you do not have the Lineage II Gracia client installed on your PC then you must first download it. Please click on the following link and select a site to download the client from:
02. Update the Client: Once you have successfully installed the Client on your computer we recommend you update it. Go into your lineage 2 game folder usually located in C:\Program Files\Lineage II and run the official updater. Let it download and check the files. Once it has finished, close it.
03. Changing your Hosts File: In order to connect to our server(s) all you need to do is change your Hosts file IP. To do this go to your start menu and click on “Run”. Then type notepad.exe %systemroot%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts then click ok. Once the file opens, change it so that it looks like the following:
To save it go to File>Save or press Ctrl+S. Now close your hosts file.
05. Starting the Game: You should now be able to connect to our log in server. Go into your Lineage II System folder and run l2.exe. The client should now load and the log in screen will appear.

Okay I am going to cry about the very same thing I cried about the first time KP and Night did this.
1.Rates should be set to at least 35X. The reasoning behind this is that the first few levels will be gained fast, uncovering the true characteristics and abilities of the character. But as you get closer to the more serious portion of the game it will slow down. By level 30ish you will need to grained more and more which is fine because at this point you can interact with various races and do fun stuff together. Anything below will just anyone people and make it seem too much like retail. True that the first 20 levels are meant to introduce the player to his race and so on, but if you’re that much into the story line you can just teleport here and there to do your stuff.
2.Raid mobs should be lowered, in retail it takes too many people to do raids for nice gear, and you can’t solo the monsters without a big party, or even a midsized party, let along without having uber gear already which gives us a catch 22 situation.
3.Maybe until the server becomes more active there should be a GM NPC which sells these items and quest items like they already do in most private servers.
4.Like other private servers introduce a GM teleported, I saw a nice private server before in which they were even cataloged leveling raids and so on.

I can't agree with this. We could boost the rates a little more, but making it 35x would just make it really unecessary to even play. I stand by what I've said in all my years of playing MMOs. If you make the rates too high, people will NOT learn how to play their characters or the game for that matter. The last thing I want to do is group with someone that has missed getting to their second class because there were no indicators above the NPC's head to let them know that it was available to them.

Tweaking the raid bosses would have some serious issues. Sure the game isn't meant to be played solo, but is any MMORPG for that matter? We can lower them a little, but the raid bosses are pretty much the "end game" bosses for each chapter, and are meant to do with 40+ people. I think this can be tweaked, though. Items and gear can be obtained by other means such as the GM Shop you mentioned below.

Yeah, KP and I talked about this earlier. We're still kind of in the middle of discussing the options.

But to what end would that do the server any good? If everything is handed to the players, what would be the point of earning anything? I'm an old-school gamer that loves to earn everything by grinding if I have to. Not because I love torturing myself, but the satisfaction of having earned it through any means my character is able to. I can make friends on the way, and doing stuff like Tower of Insolence and stuff will come naturally.
I'm all for increasing the server rates by a little more, but if it gets any higher and we start tweaking the game to be soloable or getting items and free ports, it starts to lose the whole feel for the game.
Maybe we can get a default rate server or something and make another one with tweaked rates and stuff. But honestly, it's going to take far more resources to maintain both servers if something were to happen, and really wouln't be worth it to maintain, imo.
Well ive been playing a lot of private servers for the past few weeks as i nagged to kp to throw up his own. The TP system is quite nice, the current system is very limited and makes you run for miles. A limitation you might put on it is just teleporting to 40- areas so people can level, and do quests faster. I just believe the game really gets there when your higher level. -30ish shouldnt be a grind but 30-40 is where you get new skillsa nd progress in your class. thats when you should start to really run around get the nice stuff. BUT I HATE TO run for 3 hours, im not saying give free stuff but do make it fun to play and not a grind fast. As to the NPCs the GM shop should contain quest items and certain gear, ATLEAST until there are more players
I think exp rates could be boosted a tad, 10x, maybe 15x at the very most. I personally think 35x would be way too high and leave alot of people wandering around wondering wtf to do.
well you think that because it will only be like that to a certain lvl. at 30ish it will be a grind. the WTF servers set it to 200X so you get fully there in 1 day or so. XP gets harder at higher levels, ANY ONE played retail?

Yes, i've played retail. I've also played 100x-200x servers and it's boring. 10-15x should be more than adequate.
Like I've mentioned above, I say leave everything the way it is aside from maybe boosting the rates a tad. I can go with 10-15 rates, but anything more than that, and I would be inclined to stop playing. There has to be some kind of foundation there to play with. What would be the point of getting to level 40 in a day? So you can raid and group faster? What if that's not your cup of tea and you were playing solely to become a crafter or something? Essentially making people succumb to rates other than to level faster is just not a good decision, imo. I know we'd all like to play on BlackBird, but there has to be something about it that's not like the others out there.
There are TONS of items needed for quests and crafting items - most that can only be made by Dwarves. That's the problem we're gonna have. I know The_Freeman said he'd make a dwarven Warsmith, but we can't depend on him every waking moment to make items. Then we get to the problem of actually having these items on a GM Shop or something. What would be the point of him making a Dwarf then?
We can make the sell rate 0 for items we need for quests and stuff, essentially making it worthless to sell. But from what I've experienced myself, this always leaves exploits open for future usage. Then manually going through everyone's bank vaults to fix it is a real pain in the ass. More trouble than it's worth, personally.
Three words. Get a mount. :P
I know it seems like a chore to get around, but that's because that's the way the game is. It's no WoW, and that's why I love it. There's no Flight Masters, and that's perfectly fine with me. You learn the terrain and how to get to certain places this way. The open areas in Lineage II are there for a reason. Have you ever ran through Sea of Spores to find Orfen or gotten a group together to take on the Tower of Insolence and Baium? The vastness is there for a reason. If everyone were to port to these locations, there wouldn't be much point to setting up raids. And, IIRC, there are ports to get there or at least close to them. Almost every major raid instance has a port attached to the adjacent area. It just not available at early levels because there is no reason for a level 30 to be there. You need to get o the town or camp that's closer and talk to the teleporter there. Even getting to Cruma Tower at 40, there is some running involved. Why? Because everyone needs to know the ins and outs of the place and how to get there.
The retail game has over 21 million subscribers and they all seems to be playing just fine at default rates. The reason? Because you earn everything the way the devs intended you to. Making the game faster to level and stuff only burns you out that much faster. Once you've seen everything and done all you want, then what? WoW? lulz. :P No thanks.
