I have actually had a couple of opportunities for jobs with the little amount of knowledge that I've learned just on my own. It seems to me that most of them are always asking for knowledge of basic web knowledge as well as something more technical than html. For example two of the potential employers were asking for HTML, some type of web editing software knowledge such as frontpage etc. AND some higher scripting language such as PHP and/or .NET. Give those a shot and you can pretty much get a decent job. Java and Javascript are nice ones to have too. But learn one of those others as well. My guess is that if you know Java and Javascript, the others should be a breeze.
