Ajax for my website Yes or No? - December 12th, 2007

I am putting together a major site. It is just about finished and ready for launch but I am going back and forth w/ whether to insert AJAX or not. Currently I have AJAX in some parts of the site to speed it up. The drawback is that users will not be able to press the backspace key. When they do they are taken back to the last page that did not use AJAX, which may not be the "actual back page" What are your thoughts? Is the speed gained from AJAX worth it to the point that I should keep it in for some spots and not for others. Or do users just hate that they are not able to use the backspace key. I do have back button links on all the pages that utilize AJAX. Let me know your oppinions. Of course I do not plan on having the site completely done in AJAX I am just asking opinions for using it in some spots where there is a significant speed difference. Thanks a lot.
