Making a website in Dreamweaver? help? -
January 1st, 2008
i started the website as index page.jsp i.e the home page now when i made another page.jsp its opening in the browser, i had saved it as .jsp should i save it as .html ? when i click the link the browser says -
A name was started with an invalid character. Error processing resource 'file:///F:/web_site/Animals.JSP'. Line 3, Position 2
what should i do?
A .jsp (java server page) must be served by your server - on a PC probably IIS. If you use the browser just to open the .jsp file (not through the server) it won't understand the .jsp syntax.
You'd have to setup your IIS to recognize .jsp and associate the appropriate application so it can properly render the file.
If you double click on a .jsp file and your browser is coming up by default, you can go to file explorer and under the "Tools" menu -> "Folder Options -> "File Types" (tab), find the .jsp extension and associate with Dreamweaver.
try zoomshare, or freewebs.
Maybe the file is too big. The way it says it, it looks like it thinks you hard drive is a network drive. are you sharing it. Because it probley thniks its disconnected. Try going into main root, and not using My Network Places, a workgroup, or Domain.
