I cannot delete the folder.exe virus - due to admin rights? -
December 21st, 2007
I managed to infect both my laptop and PC with the folder.exe virus. I installed Mcafee to my PC and this managed to wipe it but I am having no luck with my laptop.
The problem I have is, I have installed Mcafee which cannot complete installation until i remove Zonealarm and an old verision of Norton but because the virus has wiped my admin rights and access to control panel, I cannot add/remove programs. When sorting my PC i was able to right click on start/Explore all users/select start menu/programs and select zone alarm folder that has an uninstall option - however Norton does not.
How can I delete Norton? (to then install Mcafee which will wipe out the virus).
I have tried going on line and using various suggested tools that should delete the virus however after trying them in safe mode, the tool identifying all the files etc. on restart i am then given the usual pop ups associated with the virus.
Can anyone suggested how I can delete Norton? (or any alternatives)
Thanks in advan
