Silkroad Online: A game based on the ancient silkroad between china and europe. At level 20 you can be a merchant, run trades accross the silkroad for money, a theif, who kills merchants for their trade items. And a hunter, who protects merchants from monsters and theives during trades. The game is very well set up, and I highly reccomend it.

Maplestory: A 2d side-scrolling game with some modern aspects but some old ones as well. You can choose your class, and taxi around from city to city by teleporting. It's completely PvE(Player vs. Environment), no PvP in the works yet. As you advance in levels you get better skills. However you may only get new skills every job advancement, you get skill points every level to level up your skills.

Overall,
Silkroad: 8/10 A bad movement lag at the start, that can get annoying at first. Also, doing jobs less than level 30 have a very low success rate, making you have to play alot to get to 30 for the game to really take off for you.
Maplestory: 9/10 The 2-D aspect really won't matter, along with everything else. But, if you have an O.K. internet connection the lag will really kill you, as with this game, it's all or nothing. You can't play with bad lag. Also, it gets fairly difficult to level.
Hope I helped, enjoy these games, as both are completely free although both have Silk and NX Cash, which can be bought with a credit card online and allow special items(NX Cash cards can be bought at Target).
