I dont want to install anything and i want to watch avi

files on my windows vista home basic computer? can i? I dont mind downloading a standalone avi to wmv converter as long as i dont need to install.

I do not have vista but with xp the first time I tried to watch an avi file it used real player to search for the codec it needed also with media player it needed a software update which it found itself.
I know you said you did not want to install anything but consider video lans vlc media player it will play things you may never of heard of before.

it is not possible. you will need to install at least something.

download k lite codec and install it. it will work
