...and off? I have had my computer and monitor for about 4 years or so now. Its a dell deminsion 8300 with i believe an 18 inch dell flatscreen monitor. Just recently the monitor sometimes will start flashing on and off (about every second) I checked the connections and they seem fine but its weird cause if i slightly bump the screen it will stop flashing most of the time and be fine for hours. Seems like something is loose but im no pro. Could it be anything else? Also while its flashing if i push the monitor power button it does nothing at all.

Any help or suggestions would be great! Thanks

It could be the monitor display wire, is it thick, heavy and feel grindy? it may be a pined wire and it being twisted or trapped could cause this problem when error in signal being sent from the PC it only picks up parts on the monitor and so flashes on and off alot.

yup its time to get a new monitor unless you wanna repair it..... the bulbs ran out. you see each monitor has its life expectancy. and to be honest Dell monitors dont last long. you need to change teh monitor or repair it. They sell cheap LCD monitors at walmart (check that out). thats the only thing that i can tell you .. sry .. its not a connection issue, your monitor is about to die.
